Unboxing The Start-Up To-Do List
What’s in-store for me in the e-commerce ventures to digital marketing initiatives?
"Wow! Online entrepreneurship has proven to be quite the challenge. In my first week of launching my blog, I've been overwhelmed with thoughts on how to move forward. My goal is to get my website and blog noticed so I can run ads and make money from it. But I hit a roadblock when it came to understanding SEO keywords and adding tags to my website. Those technical aspects had my head spinning. I've been trying to learn while multitasking, mainly by listening to videos while driving. Yes, just listening, not watching, to mentally prepare myself for what's ahead. Hearing all the technical jargon makes me want to escape to a quiet corner in the local library and stay there indefinitely. Of course, that's not an option now that I have a family, so I've temporarily set it aside for later.
What I have managed to accomplish is setting up my print-on-demand business. I've been watching YouTube tutorials about Etsy and Printify. If you're not familiar with Etsy, it's an online marketplace where you can find handmade, vintage, and unique products.
I officially launched my Etsy store on July 31, 2023. The idea came to me after I organized a bridal shower for my sister-in-law. I designed her invitations and activity cards for the event. Everyone who saw them loved the designs and my work. So, it got me thinking that perhaps I could sell some of my designs online. My husband was supportive and encouraged me to give it a try, and that's how I ended up here.
I've listed some printable card designs in the bridal niche, although I haven't made any sales yet. It's a work in progress. As I delved deeper into this venture, I discovered other ways to make money on Etsy without stocking physical products, and that's where the print-on-demand business comes into play. This is where Printify comes in.
"Printify is a platform that allows individuals and businesses to create and sell custom-designed products online without the hassle of holding inventory or dealing with production costs upfront. It simplifies the process of turning creative ideas into real products."
There are other platforms for print-on-demand, but I've decided to stick with Printify for now based on a recommendation from a YouTuber. I've integrated my Etsy store with Printify, so I can create products to sell on Etsy, and Printify takes care of production and shipping.
Perhaps I'll create a blog tutorial about this in the future. I have a feeling that I am only seeing the tip of the iceberg. I am sure the roadmap will keep unveiling at every corner. But for now, I'm fully immersed in designing t-shirts to get a feel for how this business plan works.
That's it for now! Ciao!"
